SecureGate provides safe access to various kinds of secured areas in airport environments, from airside access to airplane boarding. The system allows operation in attended or unattended modes. Based on specific security requirements, SecureGate can be equipped with a wide range of various devices for reading, printing and displaying. SecureGate can be operated by airports, airport service providers or airlines.
SecureGate’s flexible boarding pass scanner allows reading of all kinds of paper or electronic boarding pass formats. Depending on the passenger flow SecureGate can be installed as single or multi-lane gate.
While passengers are passing from landside to airside, their boarding passes will be checked at the MATERNA SecureGate. An agent scans the 2D bar code on a printed boarding pass or mobile phone to validate airside access. The presented boarding pass is checked for being a genuine airline boarding pass and not a duplicate. For passengers convenience the secure application displays the walking time to gate. If not offered by a friendly security agent, these services may be provided by unattended gates.
Boarding the aircraft is just a snatch because lines have shortened drastically since passengers can board the aircraft on their own using self boarding gates. The MATERNA SpeedBoarding gate scans the home or kiosk printed boarding pass or the 2D bar code on a mobile phone, checks it against the airlines passenger data base and provides access to the aircraft without intervention of an agent. Even when boarding larger airplanes, the use of automated boarding allow agents to focus on passengers needing their assistance.
Besides all technical and logistical efforts baggage misrouting still occurs. However MATERNA’s bag track kiosk and Web applications assist passengers even at this inconvenient part of their journey. The process starts with picking up flight information and baggage description. After customs declaration and the delivery address has to be confirmed or entered. The procedure is finalized by printing the “WorldTracer” tracking number together with additional information.
